Today at The District, the guy making my Cuban asked if it was okay for him to experiment with my latte art. Of course I said YES [maybe a little too enthusiastically] and told him that I was excited to see what he came up with. After a few minutes of very precise pouring and etching, he handed me a beautiful cup of personalized coffee.

This guy got me wondering what it would be like if more of us were like that. What if we weren’t afraid to put ourselves out there and ask others to give us a chance? What if we could be more open to connecting with one another, even over something as simple as personalized latte art?

It’s September 1st, and I have decided that my goal for this month is to stop being afraid of being rejected and just put myself out there. What have I really got to lose?
